The griddy series is our first attempt at constructing a fictional narrative of architecture as folklore. A serious project with a playfulness to the storytelling of architecture representation as a project, emphasis on interpretation and imagination. Writing, reading and drawing architecture a way of revaluing the composition of words to be equally weighted as the images. Lest we forget, some of architectures greatest works are still fictional and that paper architecture is equally important to the education of architects, the history and future of the practice of architecture.
Built on the spirit of fiction, imagination, fantasy and provocation, architecture is agency; architecture can be political, cultural, revelatory - architecture can be an advocate, a catalyst and a character albeit charming, ironic or tragic. Architecture in writing reading and drawing is suficient grounds to make a difference - without having to build the building.
The theater of life takes place on the stages of architectures prosceniums from the gutter to the gilded palace. A spectacle of everyone everywhere everyday - impromptu or masterfully scripted, architecture is more than the backdrop, it's part of the show.
